Struggling With the Why of Your Small Business?

Struggling With the Why of Your Small Business?

Owning and running a small business, no matter what industry it may be in, is extremely complex and can be very difficult. As you continue to try to keep your business up and running and as you keep growing and flourishing, it can be easy to lose sight of your company’s vision—and what you set out to do in the first place. It is easy to forget about the “why” if your business.

In order to keep your company up and running, you need to make sure that you have a clear vision for your company so you don’t just focus on what you are doing day-to-day, but you focus on the why of what you are doing.

So, why is it important to have a clear vision?

Your vision can not only bring clarity to what you are doing, but it can help motivate and inspire others on your team. This is your “why” and it gives you a sense of purpose, it can also be used to help you when you are struggling to solve problems.

Here’s an example.

If your “why” is just to make money or sell a product, it is going to be hard to get people to follow you. It will be hard to motivate employees to work towards something bigger and it will be hard to stay motivated when things become challenging. “Selling” and “making money” is a hard thing to devote your life and your time to.

This is why a purpose or a why is so important.

For us, here at Life In Motion, our “why” is about helping people. We are here to help small businesses succeed. Our vision is clear, concise and it is something that helps us stay motivated and stay on track.

If you can’t automatically think of what your “why” is, or if you aren’t using it every day as you build your business, then it is time to take a quick moment to sit down and craft your own “why” statement. Use this in everything you do, every decision you make. It will help remind you that your company is about more than just turning a profit and paying the bills—it is about giving people something they need, whatever that “something” is.

Here at Life In Motion, we not only use our “why” in our everyday efforts to help our small business customers—but we also help others create their own “why” as well. If you are looking for help on perfecting your vision, or on ways you can help communicate that vision to your current and potential customers—the team here at Life In Motion is available to help.
